Out-of-Sight Artist Cash Prizes
Advertising Federation 7th Annual Bizarre Bazaar,
“Funkadelic Relics,” A Funky Furniture, Home Accessories, and
Objects d’Art Auction Seeking Artrific Donations by May 8.
The Advertising Federation of Greater Baton Rouge will host the 7th annual Bizarre Bazaar, themed “Funkadelic Relics,” on Thursday, May 15, 2008, from 6:00pm–9:00 pm, at The Lane Agency; 6615 Florida Blvd at Gerry Lane Business Central. The live auction of eclectic art and funkified furniture will include complimentary hors d’oeurves, cash bar, and artist cash prizes to add to the evening’s funky festivities.
Local artists, furniture designers, and Ad Fed members are being asked to bring on the funk! Donate an original hip masterpiece, create a relic that’s outta sight, or funk up some furniture and accessories and become part of the cause! Ad Fed is requesting donations for the auction by Thursday, May 8, 2008. If you don’t have wheels, that’s cool. Arrange for a pick-up or delivery with Thom Harris, Ad Fed Biz Baz Chair, at 225.295.1515. Count the “G” men out, as all donations are tax deductible.
Funkadelic Relics provides a unique opportunity for local artists and designers to showcase their original artworks and reinvented pieces of furniture, home accessories, and artifacts. The auction will feature an array of funky furniture from tables to chairs and beyond. Funkadelic Relics will include both a live and silent auction. All proceeds will be donated to the Advertising Federation of Greater Baton Rouge Scholarship Fund. There will be cash prizes awarded to the top three artists – don’t miss the first place prize of $300, awarded to the “Big Bad Mother Funker!” Entrance is $15. The Advertising Federation’s mission is to provide professional growth opportunities for its members as well as to support the Baton Rouge community by donating pro-bono resources to a variety of non-profit organizations each year. Such initiatives include:
- An annual public service campaign for a non-profit organization (past recipients include United Way, Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge, BRATL, etc.).
- Advertising/Design assistance on smaller projects throughout the year that benefit non-profit organizations.
- Participation in Habitat for Humanity.
- Education opportunities for advertising and design students.
- Internship programs for advertising and design students.
- A $1,000 annual scholarship to a deserving student.
- Advertising/Design speakers featured at monthly luncheons.
